Well - to be precise its gold!!
Sam took part in the Phoenix Challenge karate competition in Inverness today - he has been a competitor twice before and come home with silvers so was determined to go one better - especially as there was trophies up for grabs not medals.
He was entered into the category for 11 to 14 year olds and as you can see he was the smallest and youngest. Thanks to Sensei Diane who intervened and had him removed from his original category where the smallest boy was taller than me, and the twin boys who were fighting had to be at least 6 foot!! He fought really well and won his first two fights without the other lads scoring a point. His last fight was harder but then the boy was not just taller than him but physically much bigger. But Sam has speed on his side and thinks about his next kick or punch before it happens. And he is delighted (as the photo shows!) of his new orange trophy. It just so happens that orange is his fave colour at the moment.
Well done to all the Kaizen team - we had a fair haul of medals.
The day was rounded off with a trip to Pizza Hut - the meal was delicious and made even better by the half price voucher I took with me. A wander around Borders and a Starbucks and we came home.

Congrats Sam! Looks like you've got a future champion on your hands there Jo - make sure to feed him lots of your new cakes to keep his strength up!
The little girl I care for S6, does Karate, I hope one day i'll be driving her to all sorts of compititions!
