Happiness for Beginners by Carole Matthews.

Molly Baker is living her best life.

Thirty-eight years old, she lives on the twenty-five-acre Hope Farm in Buckinghamshire, surrounded by (mostly) four-legged friends and rolling hills. There's Anthony the anti-social sheep, Tina Turner the alpaca with attitude, and the definitely-not-miniature pig, Teacup.

Molly runs the farm as an alternative school for kids who haven't thrived in mainstream education. It's full on, but she wouldn't have it any other way. So when the well-groomed Shelby Dacre turns up at Hope Farm asking to enrol his son Lucas, Molly isn't fazed.

But Lucas is distant and soon Molly realises he might be more of a handful than she anticipated. And then there's the added problem that his dad is distractingly handsome. Molly has her beloved farm to think of - could letting Lucas and Shelby in be a terrible mistake, or the start of something wonderful?

Happiness for Beginners was an absolute delight from start to finish. I will go as far as to say this is my favourite book ever written by Carole.

It has the perfect mix of romance and humour with a touch of drama thrown in for good measure. The animals cracked me up with their antics.

A perfect piece of escapism reading. I will be recommending this to everyone.

The Cornish Cream Tea Bus - The Eclair Affair.

I read the first book in the series a few weeks ago - Don't Go Baking My Heart.

The Eclair Affair is the second in a four part serialisation set in beautiful Cornwall.

This book was a joy to read and I do enjoy a good serialisation - always leaves you wanting more.

I don't want to give anything away but it an amusing and light read - and makes me want to go to Cornwall - quite a trek when I live in the North East of Scotland!

The Things I Know by Amanda Prowse

When Grayson Potts comes to stay, he’s unlike anyone Thomasina has ever met. He’s aloof, eccentric and exceptionally kind. He’s also totally unconcerned with the physical flaws that have always defined Thomasina.

The two form a bond that neither has had before. It’s possible that it could become something more, but Thomasina also wonders if it’s too good to be true. By putting her heart on the line, Thomasina may open herself to heartbreak. But she may also open herself to so much more.

I was late starting to read Amandas books- I believe I have most of them already on my Kindle but for some reason have only read hr very first title and the most recent ones. I really need to rectify that.

I don't really want to give to much away but The Things I Know follows 2 characters who are not having the easiest time of it for one reason or another - until circumstances bring them together. Their relationship develops slowly despite the obstacles put in front of them. Quite an innocent beginning. In parts it was sad. In parts it was hopeful. I really enjoyed this book - I think it will stay with me for quite a while - but please Amanda I would like a sequel - as I have unanswered questions.

Absolutely loved this one - not out till September but it will be worth the wait. I read this one as part of the judging panel for the Romantic Novelists's Association - one of the highest marks I have given I think.

What I am reading now:

Amanda never disappoints with her books - and this is another winner.

Really looking forward to this one.

5 New To Me Authors I Have Read Recently.

Following on from Kathryns post over on The Book Date for Connect 5 Books I thought I would share some new to me authors I have read recently and have enjoyed. I gave 5 stars to all these titles and will definately be reading more books by these authors.

I can't believe I haven't read anything by Victoria before but Those Who Are Loved was part history lesson and part family drama. Very evocotive writing. and my review can be found here.

The Day We Met was an epic love story - beautifully written and a story that will stay with me for some time. You can find my review here.

The Flat Share was a fantastic debut and so many times I have seen it described as the must read book of 2019 - and I agree. You can read my review here.

I was given the chance to read Am I Guilty? over on The Book Club. And I was glad as not sure I would have picked up this title otherwise. A fast paced emotional page turner.You can read my review here.

Think I am a bit late to the party reading Mandy Baggots books but I was given the chance to read her latest title through The Pigeonhole. One Last Greek Summer is a perfect summer beach read - not that I am going to a sunny beach this year. A delightful read and you can see my review here.

What I read last week

As predicted this one wasn't really my cup of tea but I finished it.

What I am reading now

At present there is no cover available for The Man I Can't Forget by Eva Woods due out in September this year. I have been asked to read and judge the book for the annual Romantic Novelist's Association - something which I have been doing for the past couple of years. Don't want to give too much away but it is a great read.
