Project 365 - day 89

A basket full of balls - from our adventures at the driving range today.

Driving me mad!

In the quest to find something different to do during the school holidays (that doesn't cost a bomb) we popped over to the local driving range - so local that we can see it from our house! We thought we could hire a couple of clubs for an hour but the old chap who works there said they didn't hire clubs anymore. On seeing the boys faces he told them to follow him through to a store room. There he found them a couple of number 7 irons - and told them they could keep them so they could bring them with them next time they came. That made their day - it never fails to amaze me how friendly and generous some people are up here.

So a couple of quid and 2 baskets of balls later the boys were all whacked out - although I'm not sure some of the more serious golfers were too impressed by their attendance. I have never seen the point of golf to be honest - as my dad says - its a good walk spoilt!!

Roseisle beach

It wasn't the brightest of mornings but it was the first day of the school holidays so I refused to stay indoors.
The boys love running up and down the sand dunes and Cal had the obligatory gun so played "sniper" in between the old WW2 sea defences!! Then they practiced some dance moves along the sand - good job there was only one other person on the beach and they were too far away to see what they were up to!!
Then we walked back through the forest to the car and managed to get them to sit still long enough on a fallen tree to take some photos - Callum as usual was messing around!!

Project 365 - day 88

Took the boys for a walk this morning down to Roseisle Beach and Forest - this is part of the new boardwalk leading down to the beach.

Mojo Convention

I have joined a group over on UKS with the above title - a small band of us whose inspiration, enthusiasm, whatever you want to call it - has upped and left the building.

Each week we set each other small challenges - be it a scrap lift, a technique, sketch etc.

I chose to scrap lift a LO entitled Max Fun by Ellsese although I simplified it - have a look at her blog as her work is stunning.

I used up some scraps of Robotics papers by Sassafras Lass - one of my fave brands at the moment. The photos show Callum during a walk through Culbin Forest last summer - doing what boys do best!

Project 365 - day 87

Loved the detail on the headless figure in the graveyard of Kinloss Abbey.

Kinloss Abbey

I went for another wander around the abbey today with my camera - only this time I had company. I met up with another mum down at rugby training this morning - mums are in a minority on a Sunday morning and although the coach said we could join in if we wanted - we decided to go for a walk. We chatted non stop the whole way - and rounded it off with a coffee while watching the boys play.

I had never noticed the skulls on some of the older graves before - you can no longer read the inscriptions so I have no idea why they are there.

Project 365 - day 86

You will be sick off seeing this little chap before long! But him and his mate have been back and forth this morning - in and out of the bird box. Obviously the builders and their machinery hasn't put them off.

SLYMI - week 13

This weeks challenge was to scrap with stamps. Use any stamps you like, any ink you like, any technique you like...but give stamping a try!

To me no LO is complete without some sort of stamping on it somewhere! I used up some paper scraps from an old GoGo kit and used stamps by Autumn Leaves and 3 different lots of Banana Frog stamps (large Pharmacy alpha, Tiny Teen alpha and Take Note.) I stamped and then handcut the Pharmacy alpha as per the recent tutorial on the BF blog.

Earth Hour

This year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election, between Earth and global warming.

For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness.

In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from. VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday.

We all have a vote, and every single vote counts. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations.

VOTE EARTH by simply switching off your lights for one hour, and join the world for Earth Hour.

Cross Country

Both Sam and Callum were picked for the school cross country team this year - Cal was so chuffed to be picked for the first time. Weeks of training after school (rain or shine)on a Friday afternoon culminated in the Active Schools Primary cross country challenge. 850 children from 33 primary schools across the area took part - quite a sight to see!

Didn't take any photos of the boys running as I was too busy cheering the team on - but they both came home with respectable times - but were shattered as the last part of the course was uphill!

This little chap has been visiting Sam's bird box recently. Sam built the bird box at Discovery Club last year and was a bit disappointed that it didn't become home to a little feathered friend. We put it up in the new garden but thought that it wouldn't be used due all the noise of living in a building site. But we were wrong. Mr and Mrs Blue Tit have been checking out the facilities - sampling the bird feeder and sitting on the sun room roof. So we have everything crossed that they like the place enough to make a nest.

Mothers Day

My Mothers Day pressie arrived in the post yesterday - all wrapped up in a pizza box - isn't that the best sort of present to get?

I got the new MME "Free Bird" papers and some older Dream Street "Remember the Moments" Papers along with Daisy Bucket and Technique Tuesday stamps. Now I must try to use them instead of just stroking them!!

Red Nose Day

Here is a LO I did at the retreat the other weekend - can you tell how long it takes me to unpack my stuff.
It was a sort of scraplift of a LO in Creating Keepsakes - not sure which issue (are there to be anymore?? If it gets any thinner it will vanish completely) - thanks Sarah for the lend of it.

I love this photo of DS2 proudly wearing his red nose - chuffed I managed to get something right in PSE too.

Papers are October Afternoon - two different ranges I think but kept it simple with the black and the red.

Project 365 - day 82

Treated myself to a little Basic Grey 6x6 pad - this one is Ambrosia. I am going to use it for a couple of Easter projects I have in mind - I know the colours aren't exactly easter-y but I want to avoid the twee chicks eggs and bunnies theme!!

Just waiting for Lime Rickety to arrive over here!

Dirty Bertie

This is my take on this weeks challenge over on UKS. The brief was:

Use book title - 10pts
Use earth tones - 10pts
Wet/water photo or wet glue or glossy accents - 5pts
Secret journalling - 5pts

Dertie Bertie by David Roberts was one of Callums favourite books when he was little - about the tales of a little boy with revolting habits. As a mother of 2 boys it certainly rang very true!!

Earth tones - a bit of artistic licence as I actually forgot about this bit of the challenge - lots of green, brown chalk ink and a brown button.

Wet theme - photo is of Callum last summer doing something Dirty Bertie would have been proud of - digging for lug worms once the tide had gone out at Findhorn Bay last summer.

Pleased to have used some very old papers that have been in my box for a couple of years - Scenic Route Hampton - and surprisingly I still like them.

Remember

Its the 25th again tomorrow and for the last time I have to take photos of some of the more mundane parts of my day. Have enjoyed it but not too sorry to see it finish.

This is my new little bag from Boots - perfect for putting your piece in for work. And it has green credentials too!!

SLYMI - week 12

Can't believe I have managed to do one of these challenges in the week it was set!

This week it was to use the sketch. I had to tilt it slightly as I didn't like "neatness" of it all. The phhoto is of Sam at the top of the tower at Hill 99 in Culbin Forest last summer. I used Bo Bunny papers - and the title and journalling is taken from the slogan on the front if Sams T shirt.

Project 365 - day 80

Even though I requested no sweeties for mothers day the boys asked me what my favourite chocolate was while we were in tesco this afternoon. No hesitation there - it has to be Cadburys Turkish Delight filled Dairy Milk. And the best thing - no one else likes it so its all mine!!

Mothers Day cards

Happy Mothers Day to all mums out there.

These are the cards I mad for my mum and for Andy's mum - I think they both liked them.

The boys made me a card and promised they were going to be good all day - but in reality they didn't make it much past lunchtime!! I requested no sweeties (due to diet) or flowers (all vases still packed away in a box in the attic) which had them all stumped. In the end I ordered myself a wee bit of stash so later in the week a pizza box should be delivered containing some new My Minds Eye and dream Street papers along with some scrummy stamps! What more could a girl ask for????

SLYMI - week 6

This week it was to use ribbons on a LO. I have a box full of ribbons but rarely use them.

This is a scraplift of one of my teamie annadomini although by the end of it they didn't really look alike!!

I used Crate Paper Prudence papers, assorted blooms and brads, my trusty Dymo and of course - the grosgrain ribbon in a beautiful turquoise colour. The stamps were Autumn Leaves and Stamps Away.

Project 365 - day 79

This is for Val - a photo of our finished sunroom. The only thing we need is a new coffee table but I am rather attached to the one I have. When Sam first learnt to stand he used to hold onto the table and work his was around it - chewing it as he went!!!

Love the bright green - I had to go out and buy a bowl in the same colour!!
