Funny shaped balls

Callum joined in with the first training session of the new season of the Kinloss Kestrels - he started smiling as soon as the warm up began but really started to enjoy himself when he was allowed to tackle. Callum enjoys any sport where throwing yourself on the ground is allowed - with some physical combat thrown in for good measure!!

This could become a regular Sunday morning fixture. He proudly wore his Grand Slam T shirt - maybe one day he will play for Wales??

A weekends work

Seeing as I got all my jobd done this morning - emptying both the washing and ironing baskets, mowing the grass and washing my car - I decided to do what I wanted this aftrnoon. Managed to be quite productive and get 2 LOs completed - one for for the mojo boosting challenge over on UKS and the other was for a challenge over on Carolinez Craftz.

Off to get washed and brushed up as theire is a crowd of us all going out for a meal this evening.

House

Walked down to the building site (becoming a Saturday routine!) to see how our house is coming on. The foundations have now been filled and the concrete base laid - so its now ready for them to start putting up the timber frame.

we also popped into the Barratts showhouse this morning as it opened today. The one house is gorgeous although the decorating is a bit OTT. We asked about prices to compare what we have paid - they are quite a bit more expensive - even with the £20K they said they would knock off the price!

Sunflowers

Finally the sunflowers that Sam planted have come out in flower - one of the few flowers that are in our garden.

I'm not much of a gardener but then we have always lived in married quarters so have never felt the need to spend time and money on something that isn't mine. But all that will change when we move - I have plans!!!!

Scrap your day

Here are my pages for August.

Paid the deposit on our new house so drove round and took a piccy from the top of the building site. Sam grew some wildflower seeds at Discovery Club and they are starting to flower. Took some close up shots - and a close up of the terracotta pot that Callum decorated with shells from the local beaches. The church which is attatched to the boys school is undergoing some rennovations at the moment so thought I would take some pics as we walk past it every morning and afternoon. The workmen were camera shy but I liked the close us more than the overall photo.

Weekly challenge

This weeks challenge had to incorporate the following:

My royal them was Sam being king of his sandcastles down on Lossiemouth beach this summer. I have used pale yellow eyelets and the circles are on my patterned paper. The shine is the pearlescent ink on the Basic Grey chipboard letters and something new was trying rub ons and eyelets on ribbon.

Eek!!

This large and rather disgusting spider is on the loose in my dining room as I type. It was high up on the wall so Sam gor a chair and a plastic beaker and tried to catch it for me. But it jumped and he screamed. It has now gone into hiding behind the computer desk - and I am afraid that if I see it then its days are numbered.

Have been having fun creating wordles tonight - not sure what I would use them for but they look good.

Slave labour!

Sam wanted to earn some extra pocket money this week so has been asking to do chores (pocket money has to be earned in this house - not just handed out willy nilly) After writing grafitti on the back of his dads car we decided that a spot of car washing was in order. I did venture out with my camera but only for a short while as I kept finding myself in the firing line of the jet wash!!

Didn't realise how much fun you could have washing a car - but there was much hilarity for over an hour and a half. But we got our revenge by making Sam clean the wheels of his dads car with a toothbrush!!!

Not bad for a pound a car - and a pile of very wet clothes!!

Scrap your day

We all still appear to be waiting for this months album prompt from Shimelle - I know she gets married this weekend but I would have thought all the prompts would have been finalised way in advance. Maybe she is having computer problems.

I didn't take many photos this months - and only 1 of them has a person in! I liked the photo prompt about not just seeing the bigger picture but to focus on the finer details - made me look at things slightly differently.

Took some of the church that is attatched to the boys school - it is being renovated at the moment but managed to find some scaffold free bits - and the workmen all hid!! Took some of Sams wild flowers that he grew at Discovery Club - they were planted in an old Terracotta pot that Callum and I decorated a few years ago with shells that we had found on the beach. And lastly one of the building site - our house will be way down the bottom and from my craft room window I will have a view of those beautiful hills behind.

Aberdeen crop

Fuelled by Mr Kiplings strawberry and cream Fondant Fancies I managed 3 LOs at the Aberdeen crop on Sunday. Finally cut into my new October Afternoon Detours papers - they are almost too nice to use. And I also made a start on this months Scrapagogo kit.

Its the 25th again - time for the next installment of this fabby Shimelle challenge.

SK8R boys

The boys unearthed their skateboards from the depths of the garage this afternoon, blew the cobwebs off them and practiced some moves. Luckily we live on quite a quiet estate so they have been whizzing up and down the road. Not sure they ahve really got the hang of it yet as there have been a few bumps and bruises along the way!! But being Sam and Callum they get straight back up and on their way again.

Boom Boom!!

Have been doing some internet research this evening for a CJ entry I have to do on 1968. As I am the last person to get the journal most topics have been covered. I don't want to do anything serious so the fact thet The Basil Brush Show was first aired on TV was perfect.

Now who can remember Derek Fowlds as Basils stooge - and the gorgeous Mr Roy?????

Mini Book Monday

On a Wednesday!

This is a card/mini book I have made for my Dads birthday on Sunday. Cannot believe he will be 70 as he certainly doesn't seem that old - and that is shown by the photo of him playing footie on Lossie beach the other weekend!

I used Voodoo Vixens instructions over on UKS - you can find them here The papers are by All My Memories and I think they were some of the very forst scrapbooking papers I bought when I first became hooked on this hobby. Was a bit of a numpty with the folding to begin with but in actaul fact it easier to make than it looks.

Back to school

The dreaded day arrived - the first day of term. Sam was up with the larks this morning, excited to be going back to school - not for the academic side of thing but to see all his mates again! Callum wasn't so sure about it - took slightly longer to get him out of bed!!

They had to pose for the obligatory first day back at school photos (despite the drizzle) - note the shiny (lace up!) shoes and Callums funky hairdo that he did all by himself.

And the verdict at home time?? Sam said his day was brilliant as flew by - Callum said it was just OK!!

Seals - and a butterfly

As we walked along the beach at Culbin the boys spotted a bird hide and went off to investigate so I wandered up the beach collecting the big shells that were dotted everywhere. There wasn't another footprint on the beach and as I looked up I saw what I thought was driftwood on the beach - until it moved. It was a seal colony watching me - watching them. I got the boys and we crept up the sandunes so we were directly behind the colony so we could get a better view. I feel so privileged to see these magnificent creatures in the wild and so close up - they didn't know we were there. There must have been about 50 of the along the beach. Took lots of photos but my camera really didn't have a big enough zoom to get really close up shots although I am pleased with what I did get.

On our way back to the car I spotted a brightly coloured butterfly - much to everyone elses disgust I leapt off my bike to get my camera out of my rucksack. Luckily my family are used to me photographing everything that moves (and some things that don't!) Have looked him up and he is a Peacock butterfly sitting on a scabius - it was a bit breezy so difficult to get a clear shot of the whole of him.

Buckie Loch

We cycled around till we came to Buckie Loch which is a beautiful little beach - not a soul to be seen in either direction. Callum decided it would be good fun to cycle down onto the beach and through the water - love this photo of him with a seal poking his head out of the water behind him!!!
