What did I think.

This is the forth book in the Oscar and Armstrong series - and if you guessed from the title it is set in the beautiful Tuscany.

I'm loving cozy mysteries just now - nothing too taxing but with a bit of mystery, usually a bit quirky and moments to make me smile.

I am enjoying this series. Of course there are the characters of Dan and Oscar - on form as usual (although murders do seem to follow them around) - it is the setting which really brings this book to life. Full of colour and vitality - makes it seem like I was on a virtual tour of the area.

An entertaining read with enough mystery and humour to keep me turning the pages.

What did I think?

TA Williams has done it again with this book - the third book in the Armstrong and Oscar series.

Cozy crime is my new go to genre - and this one is set in the beautiful Tuscany - sounds like the perfect combination.

This series is going from strength to strength - each book develops the characters just a little bit more.

I will freely admit I am totally useless at second guessing the who done its - and this book was no exception. I really had no clue where the plot was going. I felt like there were plenty of red herrings thrown in to knock me off the scent.

I'm now wondering where the next instalment might be set.

What did I think?

I have read quite a few of this authors books and have enjoyed them. Not sure I would have picked it up if I hadn't been familiar with the author as I have to say the cover didn't grab me.

The musical element to the story really appealed as it is something a bit different to what I am used to. The author really captured the Italian setting - the descriptions of the scenery and the food. 

Music played a significant part of the story - Steph is a trained pianist who works as a recording artist currently working with a well known band working on their reunion album.

I have never been to Italy but this story transported me there - a perfect piece of escapism. And just perfect for losing yourself in for a few hours.

I did languages at university a long time ago and then lived and worked in France and Switzerland before going to Italy for seven years as a teacher of English. My Italian wife and I then came back to the UK with our little daughter (now long-since grown up) where I ran a big English language school for many years. We now live in a sleepy little village in Devonshire. I’ve been writing almost all my life but it was only nine years ago that I finally managed to find a publisher who liked my work enough to offer me my first contract.

The fact that I am now writing escapist romance is something I still find hard to explain. My early books were thrillers and historical novels and I now also write cozy crime, but my first love is romance. Maybe it’s because there are so many horrible things happening in the world today that I feel I need to do my best to provide something to cheer my readers up. My books provide escapism to some gorgeous locations, even if travel to them is currently difficult.

What did I think:

This is the second book in the Armstrong and Oscar Cozy Mysteries. TA Williams is such a prolific writer - I have no idea how he writes so many books in different genres and hits the nail on the head each time.

I love a cozy mystery. Usually it isn't too hard to guess the who done it but this book had me foxed. Quite a few red herrings and wrong turns. Kept the old brain working.

The plot was fast paced against the beautiful backdrop of Chianti. Some well written characters which made reading entertaining and fun. 

This is turning into a great series and I cannot wait for the next one.

What did I think?

TA Williams is such a prolific writer - I still have lots of his books to catch up with. But I couldn't resist this book as it is the start of a brand-new series.

Set in the stunning Tuscany region. A crime writing retreat. A retired detective. What could possibly go wrong?

Murder of course!! And the detective is begrudgingly pulled out of retirement to try and solve the case. Can he find the murderer before they strike again??

This was a delightful cozy mystery and a perfect piece of escapism reading. Plenty of humour along the way. Gorgeous descriptions of the countryside and food.

Think the author is onto another winner with this book.

What did I think?

This is the 3rd book in the Love From Italy series - I think each book works well as standalone reads so don't worry if you haven't read the first 2.

I love TA Williams books - perfect pieces of escapism - with glorious setting and plenty of romance. Great for getting completely lost in.

Venice is somewhere that has been on my to visit list for as long as I can remember.  Enjoyed the character of Captain Jane Reed - such an interesting back story which really sets the scene for the rest of the book.

A beautiful romance set in the hills of Turin

What did I think?

I was in need of being transported somewhere beautiful and warm - mentally if not physically. And this book did the trick.

I have read a few of Trevor's books and they do have a knack of transporting his reader to a foreign land. I do like his easy writing style and they way his characters develop. I loved the descriptions of the scenery and of course the delicious food on offer.

This book was a delight to read - it drew me in right from the beginning. A perfect escapism read.

 I managed 11 books in total:

Out of the 11 I gave 5 of them 5 out of 5 stars - Breaking Point (quite a shocking debut from this author) The Heights (kept my interest from start to finish) Hostage ( quite a lot of hype around this book and for once I felt it was justified) The Bird in the Bamboo Cage (think Tenko but with children - sobbed at the end) and Living Our Best Lives (I've followed the brothers on the TV and on their Facebook lives and they come across so well in the book - excited to be going to Cannonhall Farm in a couple of weeks - might take my book and see if I can get it signed!)
