Create 10 - Class 2

More scrap - this time long thin pieces of patterned papers. I even dug from the depths a couple of pairs of decorative scissors (you know the sort - you bought them when you first started crafting then they were put away as to be honest they were pretty naff!)

I used Sassafras Lass Robotics papers - some of the strips were the decorative ones from the bottom of the papers. And one strip was concertinaed up to use across the bottom of the photo.

The photo is of Callum after he received his trophy for coaches player of the year back in May.

Create 10 - Class 1

I signed up again for the latest Create 10 class which is run by the very talented Leo over at Crafty Templates.

This time around the classes focus on using up the leftovers of our stash - with plenty of opportunities to use up what we have got instead of buying anything new.

The first class only called for a sheet of white card and one of kraft cardstock. The rest was made from scraps of patterned papers which we could punch or die cut into an assortment of shapes. It actually meant I dusted off some of my larger punches which haven't seen the light of day for some time.

I used up some pieces of October Afternoon Weathervane papers with assorted circle and scalloped circle punches - along with some punched flowers and butterflies for good measure. The borders were made using a Martha Stewart punch.

I am really pleased with the result - and for using up some of the smaller bits of papers.

Create 10 - Project 5

Journalling the Day

This has to be the most fun class I have done - no worries about matching up patterned papers to photos and picking out coordinating embellishments.





The aim of this project as to fill the page with our own personality and not to worry about photos or style so that when we look back on them they should instantly transport us back to that day - no matter how seemingly uneventful it was.

I used scraps of different October Afternoon and Cosmo Cricket paper (I knew there was a reason I keep even the tiniest squares!) and then came the fun bit of added the embellishments. Random alphas were picked - a perfect way of using up those odd letters and other odds and ends I had been keeping for some reason. The bling angel wings I got out of a kit and would never have used them normally and I just love the little camera charm I picked up in my local craft shop.

Create 10 - Project # 4

I know I have missed out project #3 (which was a fabby noticeboard) but I am still trying to source some supplies - namely a cheap pin board to alter.

This project was called Easy Embellishing and it was a way of using up some of those scraps we all have lurking.




We had a variation of the bunting theme (T shirts for boy photos and cute little sundresses for girlie pics) and the flower was supposed to be made out of scraps of fabric. Here I had to start improvising as I don't do sewing so don't have any scraps. I used coordinating punched circles of paper and some quick origami to produce a flower.




The papers I have used are October Afternoon Hometown, with Banana Frog Pharmacy stamps for the title and the scalloped stamp is by Hero Arts. The photo is of Callum planting his sunflower seeds the other weekend.

I am so pleased to have signed up for this class - shame it finishes so soon. Roll on the next one.

Create 10 - Project #2

Today's project was called Scrapa Doodle Do and took me right out of my comfort zone.

I don't do doodling - I like nice straight lines (that makes me sound like I am slightly deranged or have OCD!) I wasn't too bad with the doodle template but the actual colouring in was hard as I kept thinking it all looked too messy. But the overall effect worked in the end.




The ribbon hearts were fun to make and not something I would have done before this class. And Sam thinks it looks cool which is a bonus.

I used Pink Paislee Spring Fling scraps of paper and assorted blooms, buttons and brads.

I was supposed to be taking part in Ali Edwards Week In The Life class this week - I have taken some photos for today but don't feel particularly inspired - so maybe I will just playing along with Creat 10.

Create 10 - Project #1

This first project was called Flowery Fun and I'm afraid I fell at the first hurdle as mt ribbon flowers were a complete disaster - but a bad workman blames his tools and my excuse is that I think my ribbon wasn't wide enough!




I also didn't have any Glimmers Mists or equivalent so I improvised with some wide brown lace - not quite the same but it was about the best I could come up with.

I loved creating this page as it is so different to the very plain and simple pages I usually produce. I love the bunting (can see me using that technique again) and thanks to seeing a post on Faye's blog (pop over for a look as its full of inspiration) I had search for some bakers twine to use next time. Was a breath of fresh air to do a LO that was a pink and feminine.

Can't wait to get started on Project #2 - even if I am a day behind already.

WOYWW & Create 10

I keep seeing WOYWW posts on peoples blogs (on investigation it means What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday) so I thought today I would play along.



Today is the first day of Create 10 . This is a short online class held over 10 days in which time you will have (hopefully) created 10 projects. Today's tutorial was about making paper and ribbon flowers - I am afraid I don't think any of my floral "creations" will make it onto my page as none of them met the grade in my opinion!!! But the sample LO is beautiful and I have incorporated some of Leos ideas onto my page - and even though it is still a work in progress I am liking the way it is turning out.
