Springwatch 2011
So good to see this back on our screens - and great to see Charles Hamilton James as a presenter this week - I loved he Halcyon River Diaries when it was on last year.
This year the team are based at Ynys-hir nature reserve which isn't too far away from where I grew up in Mid Wales. Next time we are back down that way I think we should pay it a visit.

Lambing Live
We loved the first series of this show which was filmed in Mid Wales - not too far from where I come from. So we are all looking forward to the new series which starts tonight at 8.30pm on BBC2 - and this time it is being filmed in Cumbria.

Must See TV
The best thing on the old goggle box over the festive period was on last night (I have yet to see Dr Who as I was outvoted on that one - and Upstairs Downstairs wasn't bad.) Polar Bear : Spy on Ice was just fantastic and was narrated by the ever so gorgeous David Tennant.
The film team sent a series of mobile CCTV cameras out onto the ice to film the polar bears an the Arctic islands of Svalbard in Norway. The cameras were fantastic - one was football shaped and called snowball cam, blizzard cam was on skis and operated by propellers and ice berg cam floated about in the icy waters (till it got well and truly stuck) These cameras cost over £130K and eventually all were destroyed by the bears themselves.
The scenery was just stunning and the footage these cameras captured was amazing - it showed the bears being naturally inquisitive - and the baby polar bears were just the cutest thing ever. Parts of the film were a bit heart in mouth - would the mother with the single cub stranded on the island find enough food for them both to survive? But the bears rolling in the snow and trying to stalk their prey was so funny. I didn't realise just how intelligent these magnificent beasts were.

Autumnwatch is back
Starting tonight and for the next 8 weeks. This is essential viewing in this house (although not for Sam as Thursday nights are reserved for going out with mates and hanging about on street corners - but we will let him off as he trains every other night of the week!!)
Starts at 8.30pm and is followed by Unsprung - which is just another opportunity to get another look at the rather lovely Martin Hughes-Games!!
I must admit to getting a bit of a telly addict at the moment what with X Factor and Strictly at the weekends (although Strictly has to be recorded so I can fast forward through the toe curlingly awful bits where Brucie thinks he is being funny - and failing!) But if I am truthful the main reason I am watching it is for the delicious Gavin Henson - I know he is a big spray tanned girls blouse - but he is a rugby player and Welsh so what more do you need - and for the same reason I am also watching 71 Degrees North!!
I am also getting my vampire fix with the 2nd series of True Blood as I missed it first time around and also the 2nd series of Vampire Diaries has recently started - but can't decide who I like more - Stafan or Damon??
