LSNED 2015 #5

Today I learnt that is difficult not to cry when saying goodbye.

Sam starts university and Saturday saw us pack up the car to take him on to his next adventure.

He is in halls of residence for the first year and his flat seems very nice. Hopefully the 5 lads who are sharing will all get on fine.

I held it together till I drove away but will hold my hands up to shedding a few tears on the drive home.

I am so proud of him - but I will miss him.

My Month In Numbers 2012 : June

This month we took part in the Big Garden Weigh In and during our hour of bird spotting in the garden we saw a total of 38 birds and 10 different species.

Callum has been to 3 different football tournaments this month and managed to get as far as the 1/4 finals in 2 of them. here are some photos from yesterdays tournament in Forres which was his very last one for his primary school.

A bit of a slow book month as I only managed to read 6 - but the best one was The Kashmir Shawl by Rosie Thomas. Still not really feeling the Kindle love as only 1 of these books wasn't a proper book.

June saw a couple of milestones for the boys - Sam turned 15 and rather reluctantly let me take a couple of photos of him (as long as I promised not to put them on Facebook!)

And Callum left P7 and primary school - with tears all round :-(

And June saw me work part time for the last time - I was working 26 hours a week but for the first time in 15 years I will be full time from tomorrow - I will be looking forward to this months payslip!!

Scrapbook Sketch Of The Week

Here is Shimelles most recent sketch - and my second attempt at turning it into a page.

My first attempt was way too plain and I really didn't like my handwriting - so I salvaged as much as I could and re did it. This is my 3rd page using this months Scrapagogo kit - have only bits and pieces left now.

OMG!

Sam stayed round at his friends last night along with some others from the karate club - but at some point they obviously popped out to Asda - and this was the photo message I received on my phone (and worryingly taken by his instructor!!) :




"Planking" is the new craze apparently (also called the lying down game)- is the act of lying face down with arms to the sides of the body, in unusual public spaces and photographing it. You can read more about it here. My first thought was "but he is wearing a white top" and my second what could happen if his clothing got caught in the mechanism of the escalator! Needless to say we will be having words when he eventually arrives home.

He has also just started Parkour -

It is a non-competitive, physical discipline of French origin in which participants run along a route, attempting to navigate obstacles in the most efficient way possible, using only their bodies. Skills such as jumping, climbing, vaulting, rolling, swinging and wall scaling are employed. Parkour can be practiced anywhere, but areas dense with obstacles are preferable and it is most commonly practiced in urban areas.

- but that also leads him into trouble as they use people garden walls etc whilst participating in the sport - and getting told off for it.

I suppose I should be grateful he doesn't hang about the streets or bus shelters and mugging old ladies!!!!!
