I love this photo of Sam and Andy taken on Skye last year. Looks as though they are enjoying somee quiet time together - but each looks lost in their own thoughts.

HSMSHS - Toes

This photo was taken last summer - I wouldn't be going out in the garden in bare feet today as there is still snow lying out there.

Can't believe we have been in our house for just over a year now. Having spent 19 years of our married life living in MOD married quarters - this is our first proper family home.

Wisdom for the weekend

I haven't played along with the HSMSHS prompts for ages now - probably since finishing Project 365 as I quite often used to combine the two.

When I saw the quote I immediately thought of this photo of Sam (and Callum still making his ascent!) at Fairy Glen on the Isle of Skye.

It was a magical place and we are hoping to go back to the island (complete with tent) again this year.

HSMSHS - Sign

Last year we went for a tour around the Glenfiddich Distillery - thought it was about time as it is just down the road. It's a free tour and there is the obligatory tasting session at the end - very enjoyable!!

This is one of the signs on a warehouse door.

HSMSHS - Time

An old clock at Mayne House. Some of the girls from the Aberdeen crop hired this old country house for a weekend scrapping retreat. And a good time was had by all.

HSMSHS - Fence

My own garden fence is a rather nondescript affair so this fence is down at Roseisle beach. Although to be honest it doesn't look as though it serves much purpose!

HSMSHS - Ice

I could have used a photo of my car this morning for this prompt as it was covered in a layer of ice when we woke up.

But I have used a photo from last December of the thin ice sign down by the pond in Cooper Park. Have played around in PSE with it - changed it to B&W with a hue and saturation layer and then used the brush tool to reveal the original colour of the sign.

HSMSHS - English and day 331

Another prompt I struggled with but after a quick rummage through the kitchen cupboard this is what I came up with!!

Project 365 - day 330 and HSMSHS

Today's word over on HSMSHS is American and I'm afraid mine is a bit of a tenuous connection.

Two fabby American magazines reached our shores earlier in the year in the shape of Scrapbook Trends and Card Trends. At £5.99 each they aren't cheap but are so packed with inspiration they are worth the extra pennies. I will be hanging onto my copies to refer back to time and again.

And as an added bonus today the first issue of Simply Handmade hit the shelves - it's been a long wait since it was first announced but it contains some gorgeous projects.

HSMSHS - Birthday

If it's got to be cake - then it has to be birthday cake.

HSMSHS - Scottish

An easy prompt for me today - what could be more Scottish than a thistle. This photo was taken on the Isle of Skye earlier in the year - just one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.




And the thistle just so happened to be in a field full of huge Highland Cows!!

Project 365 - day 327 and HSMSHS

I haven't played along with HSMSHS over on Facebook for a couple of weeks now - I am putting it down to a lack of time and the fact that the light is going at about 4pm resulting in some pants photos.

Although the label on these cherries say french I very much doubt they have ever been near the place - but they are sitting in my cupboard waiting to be added to my Christmas cake and pudding recipes. I really must pull my finger out and get started on the this weekend - otherwise I will be icing the cake on Christmas eve (which has happened more than once!!)

HSMSHS - Tin

I was a bit stuck for inspiration for today's prompt - wanted something different from a tin of soup, beans etc out of my kitchen cupboard.

So I thought I would look through my Project 365 photos to see if there was anything there. I have really enjoyed doing this project - made some good cyber friends along the way (we would all love to meet up once this year long journey is over and are already planning what to do next year)

Many of my photos are mundane and I certainly wouldn't waste paper and ink printing most of them off but they are good to look back on.

So I found my collection the tin of paint from the day we painted Sams room orange, a line of soup tins after finding I had over half a dozen of the same sort in my cupboard after moving, and my favourite sort of tin - a cake tin!!!!

HSMSHS - Tied

One black belt - very securely tied!

We are so proud of Sam for being awarded his black belt in karate last month. He has worked so hard for it and put in hours and hours of training. An achievement that no one can take away from him.

HSMSHS - Slice

An often wedge-shaped piece cut from a larger, usually circular object: ordered a slice of pie; shared a slice of pizza.

Callums breakfast of choice this morning - a juicy slice of melon.

HSMSHS - Cheap

HSMSHS fell by the wayside last week for some reason.

My take on today's prompt is this pack of jaffa cakes I picked up in Tesco this afternoon. Nothing wrong with some of their Value range and at 38 pence they are almost a pound cheaper than the McVities ones. You wouldn't tell the difference between the two brands and if the truth be told they are all probably made in the same factory anyway - just put in different boxes!!!

Whitney Houston had the most fabulous voice, I guess in fairness it is still very impressive today, but her performance last week on XFactor clearly showed how years of substance abuse has taken it's toll.
Got me thinking about some of the songs she has released. I first heard my choice this week when it was recorded by George Benson and loved it, at that time the lyrics "Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all", really hit home. And I share that because despite what we show the world, I think you will all understand that.
Then I heard Whitneys version and it blew me away. It has to be one of my all time favourite inspirational songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it.

I'd like to offer two quotes this week. Your choice to either do one, or both, I chose to do this because not everyone likes self portraits and not everyone can readily get their hands on some children !!!! I have two going free if you like ;-D
