Home Grown

Last summer when Nanny came up to stay she brought with her some rhubarb - carefully harvested from her own plant. We duly planted it in the garden and waited for it to grown. There was much excitement when small red stalks began to appear and it was soon covered over to force it- being novice gardeners we had to read up on this and BBC Gardeners World came up trumps here.

At the weekend we were able to harvest the first of our rhubarb much to the boys delight as they like nothing better than a rhubarb pie or crumble. There wasn't a lot - just enough for a small crumble. And I have to say Andy makes a particularly fine crumble.

From garden to plate in just a couple of hours - and some very delicious Welsh rhubarb grown in our Scottish garden.

And this was the finished result - delicious.

A colleague brought in some home grown rhubarb the other week. I made some little tarts with it, very yummy.
