What did I think?

It has been a while since I read a Della Galton book - I majorly lost my reading mojo for  while whilst life well and truly got in the way.

And how better to get it back with a gentle comforting read - and this book was like a hug in paper form.

Two best friends sharing a wedding day. Include a few mishaps. And a few animals. And you have an entertaining read. Of course the path of true love never runs smooth - so there will be a few hiccups along the way. But nothing that cannot be overcome. Love and friendship will find a way.

Although this is part of a series I think it would work just as well as a standalone title.

Summer Secrets at Duck Pond Cottage by Della Galton

Summer Secrets at Duck Pond Cottage

Can love conquer all?

Jade and Finn are idyllically happy in their little corner of rural Wiltshire. A rescue centre jampacked with animals keeps them super busy. With Finn’s art going from strength to strength, Jade can’t believe they’re living the dream until an arrogant property developer with questionable motives jeopardises their perfect lives and the future plans of the rescue centre.

Jade and Finn both have trust issues and they’ve promised there’ll be no more secrets. But keeping promises is harder than either of them imagined, especially where Finn’s past is concerned.

Living with Mr Spock the potty-mouthed parrot and Mickey the dog who barks at TV baddies there's never a dull moment at Duck Pond Rescue. But will the humans get their ‘happy-ever-after’ too?
Can they lay the ghosts of the past to rest and find a bright new future together?

What did I think?

I have read a few books by Della now - including the first book in this Duck Pond Cottage series.

Duck Pond Rescue sounds just my kind of place - I love animals and waifs and strays are right up my street. Jade has a heart of gold in wanting to help all the animals she can.

I love the sense of community and family in the book - and this means friends and not just blood relatives. I know from personal experience the importance of a strong support network of friends.

Loved all the ups and downs and it made for a charming and heartwarming read.

A New Arrival at Duck Pond Cafe by Della Galton

A New Arrival at Duck Pond Cottage

A story of love, second chances and the wonderful start of a BRAND NEW series from Della Galton featuring Duck Pond Lane Animal Rescue.

It's not just animals who need to be rescued...

Following the unexpected death of her mother, and the breakdown of her relationship, animal loving idealist Jade Foster, uses her inheritance to buy a smallholding in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside hoping to realise her dream of providing a sanctuary for unloved animals in need of a new home.

Jade employs the enigmatic Finn McTaggart to help out at Duck Pond Lane Rescue and forms a friendship with both Finn and her local Vet, Aiden Southerland. But Finn is running from his own demons and Aiden longs for a more romantic relationship with broken-hearted Jade.

Romance is not on the cards for Jade, but as both men fall for her natural beauty, the rivalry between them hots up. But can any of them heal enough to find lasting love?

What none of them realise is that a devastating secret from the past has the power to destroy the present and that love, however wonderful, isn’t always enough.

What did I think?

The start of a brand new series - does a little happy dance.

This was such a delightful feel good story - one of second chances, new opportunities and lots of animals.

An animal sanctuary. A live in handy man. And a hunky vet.

The story centres around these 3 main characters. There is a love triangle  There is attraction. There is jealousy. And there is distrust.

This all adds up to a great entertaining read. And I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

When tragedy strikes Phoebe realises that nothing in life should be taken for granted and fears she will lose everything she holds dear.

What did I think?

It was so nice to make a return visit to Puddleduck Farm. Sometimes all you want from a book is something cosy and familiar - and this book certainly fits that bill.

The not always so easy life of the human characters (the subject of miscarriage is covered in this story in case this is an issue) is always counter balanced by the animals on the farm. Their antics really do make me smile.

There are also some human characteristics that we are probably all guilty of - judging a book by the cover - appearances can be deceptive and non of us really know what another person is going through.

A totally brilliant addition to the series in my opinion - and I cannot wait for the next book to be published.

Living the Dream at Puddleduck Farm by Della Galton

Living The Dream at Puddleduck Farm

Life would be idyllic if everyone else was on the same page…

Puddleduck Vets Practice is busier than ever.
Phoebe Dashwood is juggling the usual crazy animal antics of her quirky clients, whilst organising the wedding of her bridezilla grandmother and thankfully dating her perfect man.

Phoebe loves every minute of being a New Forest vet, even if she hardly has time to catch her breath. If only she could find some quality time for her and the man of her dreams, life would be perfect.

When an ex’s heartbreak stirs up some emotions from the past, Phoebe realises she must deal with some unfinished business. It would seem a miracle is needed to pull off a happy ending for everyone – but is it within Phoebe's power to work miracles?

What did I think?

I'm loving the Puddleduck Farm series and this is - sadly - is the last book of the series.

We meet again some of the well loved characters from the earlier books such as Phoebe in her vets practice along with Rufus her partner.

Once again we are treated to a heart-warming and uplifting story. Every character is well written and totally likeable.

There are different threads running through the book centering on different characters. It was satisfying to see that all the stories and loose ends were all tied up neatly.

If you like a spot of romance - and you love animals then I highly recommend this series.

I'm looking forward to what Della writes next.

Love Blossoms at Puddleduck Farm by Della Galton

 Love Blossoms at Puddleduck Farm

How can life be too busy for love?

Phoebe Dashwood is living the dream. She’s running her own successful vet practice, Puddleduck Vets, alongside her grandmother’s animal sanctuary.

She’s also dating the gorgeous, yet slightly broken Rufus Holt, the most eligible bachelor in the New Forest.
So why isn’t she blissfully happy?

Both Phoebe and Rufus are consumed 24/7 by their own commitments. Their relationship is always last on the list.
Phoebe juggles quirky, yet demanding clients and their pets whilst widowed Rufus is consumed by his anxieties, responsibilities of fatherhood and the unenviable tasks of being a Lord in waiting with a huge estate to manage.

Phoebe knows that when you’re a vet, there isn’t always a happy ending. But will there be a happy ending for Phoebe, Rufus and everyone else at Puddleduck Farm?
Is it ever really possible to have it all?

What did I think?

The third book in a super series - what is there not to love about a story which involves an animal sanctuary?

Adorable character and even more adorable animals - sprinkle on a delightful setting and some romance and you have got a winner.

Read this almost in one sitting - I was totally absorbed.

The stand out character for me though was Saddam the cat - as someone who is owned by three cats I could totally relate to his character. Made me laugh out loud.

Plenty going on in the story to keep my interest from start to finish. I'm hoping now that book number 4 is in the pipeline.

Rainbows over Puddleduck Farm by Della Galton

Don’t dream your life, live your dreams….

Phoebe Dashwood is a passionately committed vet who’s living the dream. She’s about to open her own small animal practice at her grandmother’s animal shelter, Puddleduck Farm in the New Forest.

Phoebe is helped by her two oldest friends. Her best friend Tori is a mix of hard-headed journalist and hopeless romantic, who thinks love will conquer all when she finds the right man!

Then there is Sam, Phoebe’s staunchest ally, whose integrity and selflessness mean he would do anything to make Phoebe happy, no matter what the cost to himself.

Very soon Phoebe discovers that fantasy and reality don’t quite match.

An unscrupulous bunny breeder, a poisoned stream, and a complicated attraction all conspire to throw her dreams in a spin.

Events come to a shocking climax at the New Forest Show where Phoebe’s world is turned upside down and she has to make some life changing decisions.

What did I think?

Delighted to be back in Puddleduck Farm - love returning to places I have been to before and to meet up with some familiar faces.

This book was about the local vets practice and we meet Phoebe - a young vet who returns to the area after the breakdown of her relationship.

There is plenty going o in this book - some romance, some sadness and lots of cute animals. Naturally I fell in love with the animals but I also became invested in the main characters - they are well written and totally believable.

This was a cute and feel good story - and I devoured it in a day.

When your heart's broken, all roads lead home...

What did I think?

Was really excited to read this book - mainly as it is the first book in a brand new series by this author.

Phoebe flees the city after finding her partner was unfaithful and returns to her childhood home in the country - and back to Puddleduck Farm run by her grandmother.

Enjoyed getting to know Phoebe nd her family and if you are an animal lover then this is the book for you.  The rescue centre is a character in itself and is integral to the story.

Now really looking to see how the story develops in the next book.

Confetti Over Bluebell Cliff by Della Galton

Art dealer Ruby Lambert is on a mission to lose her baby weight ahead of her sister’s Olivia’s wedding in 6 months’ time. To add fuel the fire, Ruby has also been ‘honoured’ with the unenviable task of being Head Bridesmaid. So determined not to let Olivia down, she signs up to a swanky new diet & fitness club, The Bluebell Booty Busters.
Uncertain of what to expect Ruby meets Harry Small, a wealthy local businessman who ‘joins’ Booty Busters, after pressure from his wife, who’s worried about his health and growing waistline.
Ruby and Harry soon team up as diet buddies, supporting each other through their dieting crisis’s. But something seems amiss at Booty Busters when they both discover that if it looks too good to be true; it probably is….
Will Ruby and Harry ever reach their targets?
And will Ruby do her sister proud and be the Belle of the Ball?

What did I think?

I was so looking forward to returning to Bluebell Cliff. This time the story centres on a couple of new characters - Ruby and Harry although the location remains the same. And for that reason this book reads well as a standalone title if you haven't read the first book in the series.

I enjoyed this book as much as the first. It is another gentle read - perfect for losing yourself in for a few hours. I loved the new characters and became invested in them quite quickly. Then all to sson the book was over - but that is a sign of a good book - that you don't notice the time and you get carried away with your reading.

A wonderful and uplifting story.

And I think I spied details about a third book in the series over on Goodreads. Does a happy dance!!
