A Crafty Weekend - Day 2

Following on from my earlier post I forgot to come back and tell you about the rest of my crafty weekend.

On Sunday it was my local crop for local people and for once I was quite productive. I wanted to try and use up what was left of my first Quirky Kit - as I had the next one sitting in my craft room unopened and the next one on its way! I had plenty of photos to scrap as I had made good use of my change in internet provider and email address and claimed my free photos from Photobox.

Clean and Simple

Or just not very imaginative? Not sure how I would describe my card making skills. I don't make many cards but they are now expected from family members to mark birthdays etc.

I managed 5 cards at my local crop on Sunday - mainly thanks to Tracey and her gorgeous tree die ( i have one very similar on order - oops!!) Eldest son wanted a card for a girl (not a girlfriend he was quick to point out!) so I made a selection so he could choose.

The vine embossing folder and papers are by Stampin Up as is the small butterfly punch - I see a theme developing here - another oops!!

They are very simple cards but hopefully they will be appreciated by their recipients.

WOYWW 196

It was my local crop for local people on Sunday and as I never actually finish anything while I am there on my desk are 2 almost complete scrapbook pages - both of my youngest son.

We had a great crop - plenty of chat and cake - Erika has a photo of us all over on her blog - all looking very industrious.

Both pages are made with my new Quirky Kit - 2 pages made and there is still loads left.

Scrapagogo

I am back being a GoGo girl with my new kit arriving just before my crop which was a double bonus.

I managed to create 3 pages and even finished them off the next day when I was at home - I am known for putting half finished pages into a pizza box and then forgetting all about them! I have since then created 2 more pages (which I will share another time) from the kit and am hoping to use the super cute bird stamp to make some cards.

I think there might be a couple more pages in this kit yet!

Christmas Crop

Today was the final Hopeman crop of the year and when the snow started falling last night I feared it might be cancelled which was what happened last year.

We have been meeting up in the Memorial Hall in the village for over a year now and I have to say they are a lovely bunch of girls - and as always we had such a laugh! To mark the festive season we had a longer than normal crop from 10.30am till 6pm and everyone brought along something to eat. I have to say there was enough foo d on the table to sink a battleship - but this crafting lark is a serious business and you need to keep your strength up!!

Sarah managed to knit a whole scarf - afraid I didn't manage to capture her in full concentration mode - with her tongue sticking out!!

Pretty Paper Party : Prompt 2

For prompt 2 we had to be brave and use a whole sheet of patterned paper to become the background for our page.

I picked out the only remaining whole sheet from the Basic Grey Origins range - I only had scraps left of the rest of the papers. I used one of the sketches Shimelle provided and turned it into another page for my holiday album.

I quite like how it turned out so I might be brave and have another go!!

WOYWW 16th November

It was my local crop on Sunday - and a good time was had by all.

As per usual I took too much stuff with me but managed to make a start on 3 more pages for Shimelles Pretty Paper Party class - Sharon who was sitting with me had the same idea and she kept prompting me when I was stuck for ideas!!

Now I never actually manage to complete a page while I am at the crop - I always have to finish them off at home - usually because it either needs a title or some journalling.

I have managed to finish 2 out of the 3 pages I started and here is the last one. It is for the 2nd of Shimelles prompts (yes - I am that far behind!) so I am using spots and stripes, I have had to remove the letter stickers once - as I have real problems in sticking anything down so that it looks level!

Crop Pages

Here are a couple of pages I did at the last crop I went to - where has the month gone - as today is crop day again!

This was my page for Erikas sketch challenge - but unfortunately I was the only one who did it so the challenge has rolled over to this month. In the end I have made another page as I'm not sure I really stuck to the sketch that closely and I thought I would challenge myself to actually scrap with more than one photo! I love the Karen Foster button badge I picked up in a clearance shop over there as it went with the papers perfectly.






















































The second page came from one of Shimelles sketches I think although I can't find the original. Both pages feature shots from our photo shoot down on the beach in Destin, Florida and I have used the same My Minds Eye papers on both.





How much will I get done at today's crop - if I shove everything and the kitchen sink in my bags I should be OK!!

4 x 6 Photo Love : May 2011

I know I'm not doing these challenges in order but for May we had to use 5 4x6 photos using the sketch provided on her blog.

My first challenge was to find 5 photographs to use and the second (and biggest) challenge was to actually do a double page LO - something I haven't done for a couple of years at least.

I found a set of photos of Callum I took down at Hopeman Harbour in January this year and I used Mr Campy paper by Cosmo Cricket. Not sure I am that pleased with the overall effect - I do prefer to do just one page LOs.

But what I do like is Mr Owl - Tracey lent me the die at the crop but when I went home I had to (along with some of the other girls) buy him for myself - too cute!!!

A cracking weekend

Last weekend was a good one.

On Saturday night friends came round for a takeaway bringing their teenage children with them - and I have to say they were both lovely kids and all 4 got on really well. Combine that with the X Factor final (sooooo glad Jai won - he was my favourite - closely followed by Stephen Hall!!) and then some surfing of the music channels. This culminated with the teens trying to teach their dads to "shuffle" I laughed so much I had tears rolling down my face - so wish I had captured them in all my glory on my phone! This is how it is done properly -



On Sunday it was the final training session for Callum with the Kinloss Kestrels followed by the end of season BBQ. Sadly this might be the end of the junior club due to the closing of RAF Kinloss and the fact that out of Callums P6/7 team most of the players are moving up to play in the S1/2 team. So it might mean Callum transferring to the neighbouring Moray team who train in Elgin - but who are classed as the "rivals" Whatever happens I hope that he continues to play. Here are a couple of recent shots of the victorious team who won the recent Moray tournament.

The highlight of the end of season bash was the Dads against the kids touch rugby game. I don't think Andy was a willing participant as he was suffering with a hangover from the night before. But fair game to the Dads (who must have all been the other side of 40) - they all seemed to have a great time. Me? I laughed a lot while trying to take photos.










Straight from the rugby I headed over to Hopeman to meet a bunch of lovely girls for our local crop. I don't think I was too productive as I only managed one double page LO - but thanks to Tracy I did make some oh so cute owls which I will put to good use soon (and show you the results.) But of course the best bit of the afternoon was the cakes - and Erika did us proud with some delicious cupcakes. I so wanted just to lick all the butter cream icing off like a child - but it seemed such a waste when they were so beautifully decorated with glitter. Thanks girls for another fab afternoon of crafting.

Crop Challenge

It was my local crop on Sunday - and it was a busy one. Almost every chair was filled and it was lovely to see some new faces - and the old ones of course!!

Erika had set us a challenge as usual and this time it was to produce a page using this sketch:






















Now I love using a sketch so enjoyed this challenge but many of the girls who come are mainly card makers so it was time to try something new. There were lots of lovely entries but Sharon was the winner and you can see her page here.

I used up some more of my Echo Park "For The Record" kit from Gottacraft and used a photo of Andy and Callum taken a couple of weeks ago down at the beach. It's not often I use a piece of patterned paper as the base of my pages but this one seemed to work so well. The only problem with these papers are that they are double sided so I never know which side to use - maybe that is why these manufacturers do it - so we buy 2 of everything!!
