What did I think?

Little Duck Pond Cafe book number 46!!! How is that possible. This is the longest series of books I have ever readd.

As the title suggests these books are an escape - short and sweet - and easily devoured.

Again Rosie has outdone herself with the ever growing cast of characters. I enjoy that in each book we are reunited with characters from earlier books - but then new characters seamlessly fit into the storylines too.

This time we have a crime. An investigation. A road trip. Not going to give anything away though - but I loved it.

What did I think?

I am always amazed by this great series - just the volume of books - and they keep going. This is number 45.

I love this wee series - I seem to be quite time poor as far as it comes to reading - so these instalments are a quick fix. You can dip in and out so easily - pick up where you left off for just a few hours. I have a sense of accomplishment when I have finished another one.

I loved Gertie - her resilience and optimism were refreshing. Always a delight to be back in Sunnybrook - just for a brief period. 

I read another review which said these books are a little slice of happiness - and I couldn't have said it better.

Festive excitement is in the air, the tree is sparkling on the village green and Christmas music is making even the most hardened cynic feel a little sentimental – but one Little Duck Pond Café favourite is feeling anything but romantic! Is this destined to be a festive season best forgotten? Or could Katja’s dream of a merry little Christmas possibly end up coming true?

What did I think?

A festive instalment from the Little Duck Pond Cafe series. This was a delightful short read - perfect at this time of year when so many of us seem to be chasing our tails getting ready for the holidays.

This year I am feeling very laid back and a little ambivalent about Christmas. Its not that I don't like this time of year - but after several Christmas's spent on my own I am now in my new home, have a lovely partner and am just enjoying the simple things. I'm not rushing about the shops buying gifts for everyone and overpriced food. I am looking forward to some chilled time off work, getting out and about to do some walking and plenty of cheese and mince pies. I do not have the need to have the flat just so, I have no visitors and I'm enjoying the quiet time.

And this book helped to ease myself into feeling a bit festive. I loved the air of mystery in the relationship between Katya and Caleb and it made me think about what is important in a relationship.

Looking forward to the next book in the series.

What did I think?

This is such a prolific series - can you believe this is book number 42. This is such an amazing number of books. I will admit I haven't read them all - I need to take some time to look back to see which ones I have missed.

As with the other books in the series this can be read as a standalone title - perfect for those like me who have dipped in and out.

Now I don't do Halloween - I only has one trick or treater thankfully. But I do love Autumn so I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book at the right time of the year. It gave all the seasonal and slightly spooky vibes in the gothic wedding and slightly mysterious events in the house.

One of the reasons I like this series is that they are delightful quick reads - when you are time short (I have recently moved house) you can almost read them in one sitting.

What did I think?

Book 38 in the Little Duck Pond Cafe series - how can that be?? I haven't read them all yet but have read a majority of them. I love them as they are perfect bite sized chunks of reading - so easy and accessible if you don't want anything to heavy or time consuming.

When I read the blurb for this book it felt as though it was meant to be. I am about to put my house on the market and look for somewhere new for a fresh start. I too am hoping it will be my forever home as believe me I do not want to be moving again. Hopefully I will have a smoother ride than Ellie.

I loved this book - the writing style is so easy which makes the whole experience all the mor enjoyable. It wasn't all sugar and sweetness though and showed what can go wrong with families and relationships. 

The book left me with a warm and fuzzy feeling and with me wanting more. Roll on the next book.

I do need to go back and read the few books I have missed - I feel I have a couple of blanks to fill.

Author Bio

Rosie Green burst onto the writing scene at the age of nine, anonymously penning a weekly magazine for her five-year-old brother (mysteriously titled the 'Willy' comic) and fooling him completely by posting it through the letterbox every Thursday.

Rosie's continuing love of writing saw her study English at Dundee University and spend her twenties working on various teenage magazines, including Jackie and Blue Jeans, and meeting pop stars. Then she got serious and worked as a newspaper sub-editor at the Dundee Courier before moving to Surrey and setting up an organic veg box delivery business.

Cosy Nights and Snowball Fights by Rosie Green

What did I think?

Incredibly this is  book number 36 in the Little Duck Pond Café series. Now I haven't read all of them and have probably read some of them out of order. But each book is a bite sized delight of a story.

Do love a festive story but in this case I think I am definitely on the side of Lauren -  I too will be glad when it is all over and everything is back to normal.

This is a lovely cosy read although Lauren back story is an emotional one. Hopefully moving to Sunnybrook will be the new start she needs. As usual the sense of community in the village shines through.

Loved the latest addition to the series and meeting up with old familiar faces and some brand new characters.

Cosy Nights & Snowball Fights

As the nights draw in, gingerbread lattes and festive hot chocolates are on the menu, and the Little Duck Pond Café girls are gearing up for the cosiest time of the year. But new recruit Laurel just wishes she could sleep through the whole jolly affair! It might be October, but she's still haunted by the events of last Christmas. Could a new start in Sunnybrook help to heal her heart?

What did I think.

35. Book 35. How can this be?

I do love this series - although not sure I've read every single one yet. They are a delightful series and each book is a quick read.

Now I love a good pudding. And sticky toffee pudding with custard is a favourite.

In this book we meet Annalise and discover her wonderful relationship with her Gran. After losing her job her Gran encourages her down a new path connected to her love of puddings - and of course this leads her to The Little Duck Pond Cafe.

There was a love interest in the form of Jensen - but I won't spoil any of that for you.

I defy you to be able to read this book if you are in anyway hungry- there are so many pudding references it makes your mouth water.

After being a little confused here about how these books fitted into The Little Dick Pond Cafe series we are now onto the second book in The Sunshine Sisters trilogy and I have to say I am no longer confused.

This book focuses on Skye (dunny how this is the second book in just over a week that I have read which has this island name in it's title (the other book can be found here

Skye is the eldest of the sisters and once again Rosie Green has written another fabulous character. Totally different to her sister Aurora from the previous book. At first she appears quite standoffish - but as the story unravels we find out what has made her this way.

Devoured this in one sitting and now really want to read the final book in the trilogy - all about Blossom this time.

What did I think?

I was a little confused at first to see how this book fits into the Little Duck Pond Cafe series. Turns out this id the first book in a new trilogy within the series. Do you follow?? From what I understand each of the 3 stories centres on one of 3 sisters - Aurora, Skye and Blossom.

We have been  introduced to the sisters in previous books but in this book we delve further into her story. Aurora has arrived in the village after escaping an abusive relationship. The village rally around her and find her somewhere to live in order for her to rebuild her life. 

I enjoyed getting to know Aurora and am looking forward to the other 2 books in the trilogy. These are a really great addition to the Duck Pond Cafe series. I really don't know how Rosie has written so many books in this series and shows no sign of slowing down.

An enjoyable read - I devoured it in one sitting.

What did I think?

31st book. How can this be the 31st book in The Little Duck Pond Cafe series. I love each little chunk of the story and each novella leaves me wanting more.

I'm not feeling particularly festive this year - this has been a rough 12 months if I am honest. But books like this one provide a little bit of light relief and a sprinkling of festive glitter.

One of the reasons I love this series is how different storylines develop and we see the relationships and how the different threads of the stories intertwine.

There are plenty of familiar faces in this book but a new one in the introduction of Freddy. The story of Freddie seemed very real and relevant. Tugged on the heartstrings just a little whislt being heartwarming.

A Christmas hig in a book is how I would describe this one.

Autumn is here and the Little Duck Pond Café crew are looking forward to spending a relaxing week in the country. That’s the theory, anyway. Because when they arrive, they quickly become immersed in village life after a power cut, only to find themselves spooked at every turn by mysterious goings-on, all of which seem to be connected to the creepy old house next-door. Is someone playing scary Hallowe’en tricks on them? Or is there something rather more sinister afoot…?

 What did I think?

Have I lost count on what number book we are on in this series?? I have dipped in and out of this series over the past couple of year and still haven't managed to read them all yet. But for the record this is book number 30 which is quite astonishing.

I would class this more as a novella than a novel at just under 200 pages. Really I have no excuse not to have caught up with all the books as you could easily devour one in an afternoon.

This book was a spooky little treat - a sleepy village, a cemetery and a haunted cottage. And it is Halloween!! The perfect book to read at this time of year.

There is a little bit of mystery but it mainly an uplifting story centering on friendships. Loved the way they all support each other no matter what they are going through themselves. 

This is a terrific addition to the series - thoroughly enjoyable.

What did I think?

How can we be on book 29 of the series?? I will confess to having not read them all - need to play catch up with the ones I have missed.

This book is another cracking instalment in the series - once I picked it up I didn't want to put it down. This book follows Lottie and Liam and it involves all the emotions as we have come to expect with these stories.

Returning to the cafe is like meeting an old friend - you feel totally at ease and in your happy place.

Bring on number 30.

Kind Hearts and Carrot Cake by Rosie Green

When you suddenly find yourself loveless and penniless, how on earth do you make it through? An emotional but ultimately uplifting story of one woman's struggles to get by, and the special someone who brings hope and happiness to light up her world...

 What did I think?

How is this book 26 in the Little Duck Pond Café series - I'm not sure how the author has written so many books - but am glad that she has. I will admit to dipping in and out of the series - and not having read all of them - in order. Thinking about it does mess with my mind as to me a series should be read in order.

Kind Hearts and Carrot Cake is Jen's story. I don't want to give anything away and post any spoilers (I hate that when reviewers do that) This is a great addition to the series - Jen's story is an emotional one showing that life does not always go to plan. It details the ups and downs in her life.

As usual with this series I fell in love with the main characters and felt that they were very well developed by the author. Such an easy writing style which flows and makes reading the story so easy. Could have devoured this book in one sitting but pesky work keeps getting in the way.

Roll on book number 27 - even when I do still have some of the earlier books in the series to catch up with.

What did I think?

This is the 25th - yes 25th - book in the Little Duck Pond series. And this book is also book 3 (?) in a sub series all about Clara. I haven't read all of the books yet as I have dipped in and out of the series so I'm not 100% sure.

I really enjoyed catching up with Clara - she is such a girl next door that you would love as a friend.

I have never been to New York - and afraid it would be way down on my list of places to visit - but this story really brought the city to life.

I enjoyed reading this book in the run up to the festivities but I have to say it wasn't overly Christmassy.  But I loved the feeling of romance - even if it was a bit will she or won't she. I devoured this book in one sitting as it was so goo.

What did I think?

This is the 24th title in the Little Duck Pond series which I think is an amazing achievement.

I think I have said before that I have only dipped in and out of this series - rather than reading them all one by one from the first book. It would probably make sense to do it that way - but it hasn't spoilt my enjoyment any.

These books are quick reads and perfect for dipping into if you are looking for a bit of a pick me up. This book is the second in a sub trilogy that follows Clara and her family.

I'm not going to give anything away, but I found this such a delightful story especially as bits of her past come out.

If you haven't read any of this series, then I highly recommend you pick up the first book and dive right in. You won't be disappointed.
