Crop-tastic

The only time I manage to get any crafting done is at my local crop. A couple of the pages still need some journalling and all were made with the gorgeous Quirky Kits.

Hopefully I will get more crafting done in 2014 - but maybe we need more crops Erika??

4. Airplane. The Ryan Air jet that took us to Portugal:

12. A cloud in the shape of something. Thought the first one looked like an old woman or a witch with a pointy chin - but her nose was vanishing fast by the time I got the camera out and the second as was a stripey pedestrian crossing!

Although we did find a rock formation that looked like an elephant - does that count?

Autumn is arriving - there is a definate chill in the air. I'm not sad though I do like the Autumn months - but even better are the winter months especially if we get plenty of snow!

To remind me of warmer climes I have been looking through our holiday photos - the rugged coastline in Portugal was breathtaking.

On looking back through my holiday photos I seem to have taken quite a lot of photos of boats - including some that we actually went in. There also happen to be some pretty gorgeous blue skies in there too.

5. A Sunset. Didn't see too many sunsets on holiday but liked this one over Lagos Marina - enjoyed while sipping cocktails at a local bar.

15. A Fire Truck or Police Car. This is the old fire engine that stands outside the Fire Station in Lagos. During the daytime all the modern rescue vehicles are lined up outside too and it was fun to see the old and new side by side.

16. A Windmill. Spotted this in a touristy gift shop in Lagos - although I failed to spot a single windmill in the Algarve.

13. A Fence. A very long fence all around the 15th Century Fortaleza de Sagres - the fishermen I mentioned in my last post were fishing off these impressive cliffs.

A fence much closer to home on our walk in Dufftown.

2013 Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt

I am still playing along and taking my photos for this challenge although I need to catch up with blogging them.

Here are a couple of the prompts I have already blogged but I found more examples while we were in Portugal.

7. A sign that is intentionally or unintentionally funny:

A sign at Sagres warning of the very steep cliffs although to me and Callum there was something amusing about these figures on the sign - they look as though they are quite happily running over the precipice!!

A danger sign for guard dogs - something about the expressions on these beasts made me smile.

I think this sign is warning you not to use your horn on your car as it was right next to a church - but on first sight it looks like it is telling you that you cannot play any brass instruments in the vicinity!!

19. A Fisherman.

Again at Sagres there were fisher man (who ignored the danger signs!) and were sitting right in the cliff edge. There was a huge drop straight down into the sea and their lines must have been ever so long to reach the water. Not my idea of fun.

My Month In Numbers : July

Hello.

My big number was that we spent 10 glorious, relaxing, chilling, sunbathing, cocktail drinking days in Portugal. It was just what we needed - yes the boys bickered as boys do - but we slept late every day, lay either on the beach or by the pool, enjoyed the nearby nightlife of Lagos and had a laugh. We loved it so much we will be going back.

I read a total of 16 book which just goes to show how much relaxing I did (till the Kindle died on our last day at the beach as I had forgotten to recharge it!)

While we were away I took a total of 1040 photos. This is Praia do Camilo beach and there were over 200 steps down (and up!)

Despite the all the cocktail drinking and ice cream eating  I did on holiday I was pleased to have only put on 2 pounds.

A slow walking month - we had planned to do some on holiday as there are some great coastal footpaths but even in the evening it was still too hot especially when it was 36 degrees. During July I walked 13.56 miles which took 4 hours 26 minutes and 17 seconds, and I burnt off 1794 calories.

Now onto the communal count.

As I mentioned above I took 1040 photos while we were away - there are some more still on the camera card. And I haven't printed out any as yet but I will be putting a large Photobox order in after my next holiday to the Highlands in a weeks time.

For the purposes of this prompt I have just tipped my bag up on the carpet. I'm not a handbag girl - don't see why women swoon over bags to be honest. During the week I use a Fat face toe and at weekends it is usually my rucksack as we are out walking and I need something to put my camera in.

In this photo there are:

2 x handcream (one for each hand?)
1 box of mints
2 car keys (for his and hers cars!!)
1 ipod shuffle (full of 80's tunes)
1 pair of reading specs as I am now of that age

1 hospital appointment card which I need to make a note of my appointment everywhere as I was 6 weeks late for the last one - oops
1 umbrella
A brush and comb

1 x receipt.

Skywatch Friday

We have had rain for most of the day in this part of Scotland so to brighten my day I have chosen a couple of holiday photos - just look at those glorious blue Portuguese skies. They were taken at the top of Praia Don Ana beach which has been described as one of the best in Europe and was within walking distance of our apartment.
