What did I think?

This is the second book in the Seahaven Bay series - and I was looking forward to a return visit.

We catch up with Rita - as busy as ever - with her retreat having been running for a year. This woman does seem rather invincible - but life never runs smoothly. How will she cope with a bump in the road? What will the next batch of retreat guests bring to the story? Will the community rally round as usual?

I loved this story - it has a bit of everything - and I would love to visit.

Escape to Seahaven Bay by Nicola May

Escape To Seahaven Bay

The heartwarming new novel from the author of the million-copy bestselling Cockleberry Bay series

Seahaven Bay has always been a place where the sparkling tides bring laughter, love and a lot of fun. But when Rita Jory’s beloved husband Archie dies in a tragic accident, she’s left alone on their failing Cornish farm with nothing but her grieving heart, a mountain of debt and some very badly behaved goats. Faced with selling the home she loves or finding a way to make it pay, Rita has a moment of desperate inspiration. She decides to transform her beloved Seahaven Farm into a place where broken souls can heal by the sea.

With help from her sharp-tongued mother-in-law, loyal best friend, daughter and new friends, the rundown farm soon blossoms into a haven of healing, creativity and community. Rita dares to believe her future might still shimmer with possibility – and even admits her growing attraction to Jago, the gorgeous neighbouring farmer with whom the Jorys had a decades-long feud.

But just as Rita begins to find peace, long-buried secrets about Archie’s past begin to surface, forcing her to question everything she believed about the life they built together.

Rita must discover the truth and decide if she’s ready to open her heart again – to love, to hope, and to the possibility that even after loss, life can still be full of surprises.

A tender, uplifting and hilarious tale of resilience, friendship and finding light in the darkest moments, perfect for fans of Jill Mansell, Jojo Moyes and Amanda Prowse.

What did I think?

Now I haven't read a Nicola May book for some time - in fact I'm not sure I finished the last series (hides in shame) But this book is the start if a brand new series so thought it was the right place to dive back in.

I have to say this was a joy to read - a perfect tonic for me.  Loved the cast of characters - what a bunch of strong females who made me smile throughout the story. Love a setting by the sea - I will be forever grateful to have the coast on my doorstep and just seeing the sea makes me feel better - it is true what they say about vitamin sea.

A touch of mystery and intrigue just to spice things up a wee bit.

But the best part for me is that (fingers crossed) we don't have to wait too long for book 2. I am fully invested in these ladies and the farm and need to know what happens next.

How to Fix a Broken Heart by Nicola May

How To Fix A Broken Heart

A heart-wrenching and life-affirming story of love and loss from number one bestselling author Nicola May

Gracie Davies is at an all-time low. After a devastating loss, the last thing she needs is a colleague hinting over coffee that it’s time to lose her baby weight. Then her boyfriend betrays her, and her world totally falls apart.

Rebuilding her life from scratch – with the support of her free-spirited sister, an unorthodox therapist, and a feisty new friend – Gracie finally begins to get her mojo back. Add in a passionate fling with handsome landscaper Ed, a fairytale encounter with a Hollywood film star and the persistence of her adulterous ex, and life is anything but predictable…

Soon she finds that community, purpose, and perhaps even new love might be the perfect prescription for a broken heart.

But can a heart that’s been so utterly shattered ever trust again?

Warm, witty, wildly sexy and deeply moving, Nicola May's unforgettable novel is perfect for fans of Jojo Moyes, Marian Keyes, and Amanda Prowse.

This is a revised version of The Women of Wimbledon Common/The SW19 Club

What did I think?

I have read a few of Nicolas previous books and thought I was in for a light hearted riotous read. But this wasn't quite what I was expecting. But that's not to say I didn't enjoy it.

This book deals with some quite serious and though provoking subjects such as fertility, miscarriage and infidelity. But I have to say these subjects are dealt with in a sensitive and thoughtful way and then book is nowhere as near a depressing as I have made it sound. Quite the opposite in fact. I found this a heart warming story of loss, of love and of support - both happy and sad - but very enjoyable.

What did I think?

It has been quite sometime since I read a book by this author - and now I'm asking myself why I left it so long.

I wasn't sure about the premise of the story when I read the blurb. My life has been through some pretty dramatic changes over the last couple of years and I'm now trying to figure out how to live my life and enjoy myself. I lost my reading mojo to the point where I rarely picked up my kindle.

The story really did hit dome - showing hoe much you life can change in the blink and eye. The story dealt with some serious subjects - something I wasn't really expecting. But Nicola dealt with it all very sensitivity I felt. It could have felt quite a heavy read - but it wasn't - and that is down to the skill of the writing.

I think I was expecting a romance story - but this book was so much more and I think this is my favourite book by this author.

A Holiday Romance in Ferry Lane Market by Nicola May

A Holiday Romance in Ferry Lane Market

When soap actor Sabrina Swift loses her way due to a public scandal, she packs up her life, heads to Cornwall and randomly finds herself running a Christmas gift shop in the quaint and quirky Ferry Lane Market.

Changing her looks and identity to keep her anonymity, the newcomer starts to make friends and enemies as she walks a frosty path in the established community.

And as rumours start circling that the outside market is going to be shut down, Sabrina is not only ensconced in an unexpected love triangle but is also faced with a difficult decision that could alter both her life and those of the inhabitants of Hartmouth forever.

Charming characters and a beautifully written setting make for a delightful and uplifting tale that explores themes of self-discovery, belonging and the importance of following your heart.

What did I think?

This is the 4th book in the Ferry Lane market series. I am thoroughly enjoying this series and was looking forward to returning to Ferry Lane Market and meeting up with some familiar faces. I would suggest reading these books in order to get the maximum enjoyment out of them.

Ferry Lane is a wonderful community and Nicola has a knack of writing such enjoyable and relatable characters.  There is always lots going on in the market - some drama and of course some romance. I just had to keep reading to find out what happens next. The fact that this book is set around Christmas adds that little extra bit of sparkle.

If you haven't read any of these books then I would recommend you start with Welcome to Ferry Lane Market. Then I would highly recommend the Cockleberry Bay series too.

The Cornershop in Cockleberry Bay by Nicola May

Rosa Larkin is down on her luck in London, so when she inherits a near-derelict corner shop in a quaint Devon village, her first thought is to sell it for cash and sort out her life. But nothing is straightforward about this legacy. While the identity of her benefactor remains a mystery, he - or she - has left one important legal proviso: that the shop cannot be sold, only passed on to somebody who really deserves it.

Rosa makes up her mind to give it a go: to put everything she has into getting the shop up and running again in the small seaside community of Cockleberry Bay. But can she do it all on her own? And if not, who will help her succeed - and who among the following will work secretly to see her fail?

There is a handsome rugby player, a sexy plumber, a charlatan reporter and a selection of meddling locals. Add in a hit and run incident and the disappearance of a valuable engraved necklace – and what you get is a journey of self-discovery and unpredictable events.

With surprising and heartfelt results, Rosa, accompanied at all times by her little sausage dog Hot, will slowly unravel the shadowy secrets of the inheritance, and also bring her own, long-hidden heritage into the light

What did I think?

This book was first published in 2018 and according to Goodreads I read it back in July of that year. So five years later I signed up for this blog tour as I thought it would be fun to re read this title.

I found it an entertaining read - a perfect holiday read I would say. Rosa is a bit of a troubled character but when she arrives in Cockleberry Bay she stumbles into some good luck - a good guy and a couple of bad guys - and a sausage dog called Hot!! What is there not to like?

The author has created some fantastic characters and I loved the dash of mystery thrown in for good measure.

Very enjoyable.

The Hub by Nicola May

ONE TURKEY FARM, FIVE WILD COLLEAGUES AND A BARN FULL OF MYSTERY

When jilted crime writer August Saunders returns from London to her roots in rural Wiltshire, she feels lost and lacking in inspiration. Determined to reignite her writing mojo, she responds to an advert for a shared workspace in a converted barn.

At the Hub, with its ill-equipped gym, inedible catering and motley array of fellow users, including a matchmaker more interested in her own conquests and a TikToker with a dodgy nocturnal sideline, August is confronted with a real-life mystery to solve.

Why is Max Ronson, the handsome but volatile owner of the Hub, so evasive about his past? And who or what is he hiding on the premises? She is determined to find out – but will her curiosity snuff out the spark of romance?

Nicola May mixes mischief with mystery in a fast-paced rural romp which will make Futtingbrook Farm as beloved a location as Ferry Lane Market or Cockleberry Bay.

Perfect for fans of Beth O'Leary, Sarah Morgan, Jill Mansell and Cathy Bramley.

What did I think?

You know when you pick up a Nicola May book that you are in for a treat - and this one was no exception.

Loved the hub concept - there is something similar where I live and I don't think I will look at it in the same way now! A very of the moment setting post Covid with peoples working patterns changing so much. What a fantastic cast of characters which the setting lended itself to perfectly.

It was a fun and easy read - just packed full of humour along with a sense of friendship and community. I became invested in all the characters and found this an engaging read.

I'm really hoping this might be the start of a new series like Cockleberry Bay and Ferry Lane Market. A girl can dream.

Rainbows End In Ferry Lane Market by Nicola May

Book Three in bestselling sensation Nicola May's gorgeous new series - catch up with Book One, WELCOME TO FERRY LANE MARKET, and Book Two, STARRY SKIES IN FERRY LANE MARKET, now!

39-year-old Glanna Pascoe - also known as 'the Rainbow Painter' - runs the Hartmouth Gallery in Ferry Lane Market in Cornwall. She is just getting her head and broken heart around being single, childless, and sober when Cupid flies in, shooting arrows all over the place.

Meeting the mysterious and fascinating Isaac Benson, famous local artist, and recluse, allows Glanna's disillusioned heart and attitude to soften, and she begins to learn more about herself than she ever thought possible. Confused by her growing feelings for Isaac, Glanna throws herself into organising a life-drawing class at her gallery, using both male and female nudes - and setting local tongues wagging.

A theft from her gallery and the return of ex-love Oliver Trueman cause Glanna to wonder if a pot of gold will be appearing at the end of her rainbow. And will it bring her the happiness, she has sought for so long?

What did I think?

I loved the Cockleberry Bay series by this author and the Ferry Lane series is just as good.

Pleased to be returning to Ferry Lane - the inhabitants are starting to feel like old friends. The book got off to a slow start whilst introducing the new characters. I have to say that Nicola does write the most wonderful characters - and the developing love story.

Starry Skies in Ferry Lane Market by Nicola May

'Full of heart, hope, friendship, family and laughter, and a plot with a mystery gagging to be solved' Kim Nash on Welcome to Ferry Lane Market

When Star Bligh got pregnant at the age of sixteen, she thought her life was over. Now thirty-three, mother to Skye and owner of the successful jewellery stall in Ferry Lane Market in Hartmouth, Cornwall, she wouldn't change a thing about it.

Well, maybe one. A few months ago she fell hard for American visitor Jack, but then he left without even saying goodbye and ever since she has struggled to get him out of her head. Until the handsome, roguish Conor turns up and sweeps her off her feet. But then one day, Star is shocked to bump into Jack. He's back in Hartmouth to tell her why he left - but is she ready to listen?

As things get more complicated with her love life, another revelation threatens to turn the lovely world she has built for her and Skye upside down. But could this be the one thing that will make it complete?

What did I think?

I am loving this Ferry Lane series - just as much sa I loved visiting Cockleberry Bay.

Such a cozy - and addictive read. I love the characters that Nicola has written - all so believable along with the situations they find themselves in.

This is a story about community, about the curveballs life throws in the way from time to time and about the magic of Christmas.

Impatiently waiting for book 3 now!!
