Starlight over Hollyhock Farm by Georgina Troy

Starlight Over Hollyhock Farm

Will sparks fly at Hollyhock Farm this summer?

When a hit TV series sets up camp at Hollyhock Farm, Jersey’s tranquil lanes are turned upside down. Radio DJ Callum Preston is used to high-maintenance guests – but nothing prepares him for interviewing the star-of-the-hour actor Riley Sharp, or meeting his beautiful, overworked PA, Tasha Dodds.

As Callum and Tasha grow closer in the island sunshine, the farm becomes the backdrop for more than just the cameras. But with paparazzi scandals brewing and Callum's family thrust into the spotlight, will their Jersey summer end in heartbreak – or be the start of something wonderful?

What did I think?

Firstly - what a gorgeous cover. I have only seen a field of lavender once and would love to walk through one. This looks so inviting.

This is the 4th book in the Hollyhock Farm series. I enjoyed returning to Jersey and this book was perfect to curl up with on the sofa and while away a few hours.

The introduction of Riley certainly livens things up a bit - but in a good way - made for entertaining reading - set against the more laid back (and patient Tasha)

A perfect costal escape to an island I would love to visit.

Second Chances at Hollyhock Farm by Georgina Troy

Second Chances at Hollyhock Farm

Festival season has come to Hollyhock Farm…

Since his sister Lettie took over their parents' farm on the beautiful island of Jersey at the start of the year, Zac Torel's life has changed completely. Zac loves Hollyhock Farm, and he's determined to help Lettie succeed, but when their insurance company refuses to pay for the restoration of one of their barns in time for winter, the clock is ticking for the Torrels to raise the money themselves.

The siblings decide to host a wellness festival, but with the summer already well underway, they've got their work cut out to get everything ready before the season ends. Lettie recruits the help of Melody, a yoga teacher from Edinburgh. New to the island, Melody is determined to shake things up and make a success of Lettie’s festival.

But Melody has come to Jersey with more baggage than her small backpack implies. And as her friendship with Zac grows, will her past catch up with her?

What did I think?

This is the second book in the Hollyhock Farm series - and this is the festive edition.

I loved returning to Jersey and Hollyhock Farm. I loved the sense of community and the close relationship between Zac and Lettie. This is a cute story of second chances and of overcoming adversity. I won't go into details as I think the blurb above sums it up quite well.

The writing flows very easily and makes the book a delight to read. I know that Georgina has lived on Jersey for a number of years and her knowledge and understanding of island life comes through so well.

Already looking forward to book 3.

Coming Home to the Sunflower Cliffs by Georgina Troy

Coming Home to the Sunflower Cliffs

Gabriel has returned to the island of Jersey after ten years abroad to help his aging showbiz parents revive their failing Art Deco hotel, The Encore. This proves to be something of a challenge, especially as his singer father and actress mother are more concerned with staying in the limelight than keeping track of the cash-flow. It looks like Gabriel isn’t going anywhere fast. Meanwhile, he’s stunned to find that the hotel’s new receptionist is Daisy, the girl he fell in love with years earlier in Vietnam, and falling in love with someone who is tied to Jersey is the last thing she wants.

Previously published as A Jersey Bombshell

What did I think?

I love Georgina's books and I love returning to the island of Jersey. I have never been but it sounds such a beautiful place.

I do love a romantic read. Sometimes I just need a book to take me away from the hear and now and off somewhere just a little bit more exotic.

Gabriel returns home to Jersey to help out his parents and their hotel. What he wasn't expecting to find was someone from his (distant geographically) past. A possible second chance romance?? And I am a total sucker for a happy ending - I don't think this is a spoiler in any way. Gabriel and Daisy were such lovely characters - they deserve to be together.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Was grateful for the recent nice weather which meant I could sit outside and read it. Not quite Jersey - but it will have to do.

What did I think?

What better book to be reading right now. I am lucky enough to live out in the country. I am surrounded by farmland and quite a few of those fields are full of lambs. It's all I can do not to stop at the side of the road and watch their antics. And this is exactly the feel I got from this book.

I loved returning to Jersey and to Hollyhock Farm - the cover really sums up the location perfectly. I always enjoy Georgina's books and this one was no exception. I loved the escapism element to the story - escaping the city for the countryside and starting a new life.

Fabulous characters and great writing meant this was a thoroughly enjoyable read.

What did I think.

I do love Georgina's books. Like many of her other books this one is set on the island of Jersey. Now I have never been (I actually live almost at the other end of the country in the North of Scotland) I always think books set on islands are just a little bit magical.

I enjoyed the main character of Bea - a strong female character who has been through the mill. There was romance, some angst and a bit of grrr (directed at her pesky ex) It has something for everyone I think.

Loved the relationship between the group of friends - we all need friends to support us and be there in times of need. I am finding that out for myself just now.

This book was a delight and I almost read it in one sitting. Delighted to find out that this is the first book in a brand new series and I am so looking forward to the next instalment.

What did I think?

This is the 5th book in The Boardwalk series. I'm now wondering if I have actually read them all - I will need to head over to Goodreads and check.

Once again we are treated to another story set on Jersey - which is home to Georgina. I have never been but the descriptions have really fired up my wanderlust.

The chateau that Portia and Charlie have bought sounds fascinating - although a huge project to take on. I'm renovating a small bungalow and that is more than enough for me. I could more than sympathise with Portia longing after some of her previous home comforts.

A sweet story with a proper sense of community - a definite feel good read.

Chasing Dreams on Sunshine Island by Georgina Troy

Welcome to Sunshine Island - where the beaches are golden, the lifestyle is perfect and anything is possible.

It’s December and Jax Hudson doesn’t mind the cold. He’s still wearing shorts and walking barefoot on the beach. He’s looking forward to spending Christmas with his girlfriend until she unexpectantly calls time on their relationship.

Alone and feeling very sorry for himself, Jax accepts an invitation to a Christmas Eve party and bumps into Phoebe Bishop who is still mortified about kissing him in the summer.

As the first snow flurries delight the party guests, the festive joy soon turns to disaster when a snowstorm knocks out the island's power. Panic ensues as people realise their Christmas plans may have to be cancelled.

Phoebe is reluctantly enlisted by Jax to help transport the partygoers to the comforts of their own homes. As Jax and Phoebe spend time together they realise they have more in common than either had imagined…

Could this be a Christmas full of magic, mistletoe and happy-ever-afters?

What did I think?

This is the start of a brand new series by this author - and I have to say it has got off to a cracking start.

I love the Channel Island settings in her books - another place I have never been to.

I found this a delightful romance - plenty of really likeable characters and a super cute dog. Loved the relationship between Piper and Jax.

I found this to be an easy read - perfect for keeping you entertained whether it be on a beach or curled up at home in front of the fire.

Looking forward to the next instalment.

What did I think?

The perfect antidote to the never-ending days of rain we seem to be having up here in Scotland.

This is the second book in the Sunshine Island series. This book can be read on its own, but I do think it works better if you have read Finding Love on Sunshine Island first.

I have never visited Jersey but the writing really brought the location to life - the author lives on the island so shouldn't really be surprised.

Without giving anything about the plot away I felt this story focused on family and friendships. Loved the dynamics of the different relationships and there was a great sense of community.

A lovely light read.

Finding Love on a Sunshine Island by Georgina Troy

Welcome to the Sunshine Island - where the beaches are golden, the lifestyle is perfect and anything is possible.

Piper Le Brocq is happily single after the disastrous ending of her engagement eighteen months before. The only man in her life is Jax, her best friend and cousin, who spends his life teaching locals how to forage and taking tourists on boat trips around the island. Her days are filled with helping out at her mother's guest house and selling her glass mosaics at The Cabbage Patch emporium in Trinity.

Piper loves living on the Sunshine Island, where the neighbours look out for each other and visitors are welcome. So, when handsome guest Alex Cooper arrives at the guest house to check up on his grandfather, she welcomes him to the sunny island. And when he needs help after his grandfather is injured, she's quick to get involved.

Yet, the more she gets to know Alex the more mysterious he seems, and Alex isn't the only one keeping secrets from her.

What did I think?

Who wouldn't like to be on Sunshine Island - well this book will take you there.

Really enjoyed this slow burn of a romance story set in a charming bread and breakfast on on Jersey - somewhere I have never been. From what I understand this is the first book in a new series which is something to look forward to. There are multiple story lines running through the book but they are all connected.

It was a cute read - I think it would make a perfect holiday book. I could imagine lying on a beach reading it in the sun.
